Spurs Slump to Comeback Defeat at Brighton

In the words of Eminem, who's in the headlines this week after releasing a new single and announcing he's set to become a grandfather:

'Snap back to reality.'

Sums up this game for Spurs.

Truly a tale of two halves.

First half, dreamland, comfortably ahead, away, dominating again, just as we did against United.

Singing new songs about suddenly turned fan favourite Brennan Johnson – 'Johnson again ole ole!'

After he slotted away his 6th goal in six consecutive games to put us one up.

Then even belting out the sarcastic popular away chant of – 'Tottenham get battered, everywhere they go!'

Following Maddison's shot that should have been saved but ended up putting us 2-0 up.

We looked well on course for an all-out rout here, a statement sent out to the rest of the League; I'm thinking how we could go on from here and just start wiping the floor with teams week in, week out.

But no.

Snap back to reality.

It's Tottenham Hotspur we're talking about here.

So what happened second half?

…Udogie miss-kicks a Brighton cross on the 48th minute and Minteh smashes it home to make it 2-1.

No worries. We've been creating chances for fun. It's just a blip and a matter of time before we score again.

58th minute – Rutter shrugs aside Udogie, evades van de Ven, and fires home another for Brighton.

2-2…

Right, so now we really have our work cut out. Let's get back at it!

Right now!

… … …

66th minute.

Throw in, cross, header from Welbeck, 'The former Arsenal man!' GOAL.

3-2.

… It seems we just can't have nice things at Spurs.

A few flurries forward followed the disastrous start to the second half, but it never REALLY looked like we were going to rectify the situation.

As '2-0 and you f***ed it up!' rang out amongst the home crowd.

I'm trying to think of positives and negatives, player wise, to report, but it was just too contrasting and frustrating a game to delve into specifics.

We looked a superb side in the first half, then shockingly bad and vulnerable defensively in the second.

The Tottenham conundrum continues.

Despite showing promise here and there, ultimately we're left with 10 points from our first 7 games, it's the worst start we’ve had in the Premier League since 2008.

Personally, I 100% remain all in for Postecoglou, and trust the process.

But we need to sure things up at the back and fast! Or we'll continue to leak goals and lose points.

Come on you Spurs, get it together!
