Spurs Smash United at Old Trafford

Brilliant.

What an absolute joy to watch that was. From start to finish.

Early goal within 3 minutes that saw fan favourite Micky van de Ven steal in to snatch the ball from Rashford and race forward from deep inside his own half, soaring past a crowd of bewildered Man United players, all the way down the left side of their penalty box, before expertly squaring it across goal for Brennan Johnson to tap home for his 4th goal in four games.

Perfect start.

It immediately silenced any early excitement amongst the Old Trafford support and made for joyous Spurs singing that continued throughout. Our travelling fans were nothing short of superb and made me wish I was there!

Vicario, who performed exceptionally well in the Europa League midweek to prevent Qarabağ from scoring, made another solid save to stop Zirkzee from equalising not too long after our opener.

The ref, who was trigger happy with the cards all day, then decided to dismiss United captain Bruno Fernandes on the 42nd minute, for a slipped lunge on James Maddison. To be fair it did seem a tad harsh, but the challenge was high on the leg, and we all loved to see him walk.

Strangely enough the red card could almost dampen the performance for Spurs as we were dominating before we gained the numerical advantage, and we dominated after it too. We dominated throughout, and many will have no doubt that even if it'd remained 11 v 11, things wouldn’t have panned out much differently on the day.

We were just so strong from start to finish, and it was wonderful to see.

The only downer of the day was on loan winger Timo Werner. Fans are already frustrated with him as it’s become common knowledge he's on hefty wages, and it's also believed he's blocking the development of our next bright academy starlet Mikey Moore.

Werner missed two completely clear-cut chances to put us further ahead with tame finishes straight at the keeper, and was largely wasteful with his play throughout. There's no doubting he has close control and an abundance of pace, but when it comes to his final ball and finishing, he's simply not good enough. Maybe that’s the reason Chelsea ultimately got rid of him.

Anyway, today's not a day to dwell on disappointment, so onto more positives, thankfully they arrived in abundance:

- 'Dom Solanke scores again!' Another chant that rang out amongst our fans, as our new number 9 bagged his 3rd in 3 games.

- Kulusevski carried on his exceptional form in his newly found central position. He was imperious throughout, so powerful in his play, and capped his performance with a slick finish with the outside of his left boot to put us 2 up early in the second half.

- The aforementioned Johnson continued on his journey from zero to hero scoring yet again and going on to assist one as well, which led to chants of 'There's only one Brennan Johnson!' Much to the satisfaction of his smiling father watching on in the stands.

- Even young Mikey Moore, who fans started singing 'He's one of our own' toward following another Timo Werner missed opportunity. Eventually he did come on for him and almost bagged a blinder right at the last; cutting in from the left wing and curling a shot just wide of the far post.

All in all, a 3-0 victory away at Old Trafford, a terrific win and one that feels like things are really coming together under big Ange Postecoglou.

'Oooh Tottenham we love you!' Ringing out at the final whistle

Let's hope there's many more moments like today to come.

We didn't even have Son today and look what we did. Please Spurs! 🙏
